This past June I spent the month studying in Spain, where my friend captured this photo on a weekend trip to Barcelona. Photo Credit: Lani Craig
Hello! My name is Camille Oriti, and I am excited to introduce myself and my website. I am a fourth-year student at San Diego State University, obtaining my Bachelor of Arts in Journalism. I am also a part of the Weber Honors College with an Interdisciplinary Honors minor. My college career has been extremely rewarding and educational thus far. I have taken courses such as Introduction to Contemporary Media, Social Media in the Digital Age, Writing for Mass Media, Intersectionality in the Media, Media Writing & Reporting, and more, which have all broadened my knowledge in media and journalism. These courses have given me insight into what I want to do in the future and the types of journalism careers I could potentially dive into. While I am still exploring my career options, my goal is to work in the media industry for a major media company in areas such as promotions, production, or even public relations. I am passionate about storytelling, communications, and promoting media projects or news stories. I want to be a part of a creative and driven team of people and make an impact in the world of media. I am very open and flexible to the different areas of work within journalism, and also have an interest in working for an investigative journalism newsroom. I am in the process of getting my Certificate of Public Law here at San Diego State University, which has given me some insight into the American Justice System, philosophy, and morality.
It is important to me to be versatile and adaptable in my career and the things I am learning throughout my college career. This past summer, I spent a month studying abroad in Valencia, Spain, where I did a PR internship with an art gallery. This internship experience, as well as my prior internship experiences, has given me a strong foundation in media. I got the opportunity to work on real-world projects and develop skills in content creation, promotional campaigns, and writing. Working in Spain gave me not only an amazing experience, but also allowed me to grow both professionally and personally in a new cultural environment. I am looking forward to more opportunities to further my career. “Do one thing every day that scares you.” - Eleanor Roosevelt. This quote connects to me and my experiences as I love to do things that challenge me, even if they bring me fear. Going to spain this past summer was a new and intimidating experience. I had never flown or even been out of the country, but I am so happy I took the leap to study abroad, as it is an opportunity I will never forget.
